B I O G R A P H Y
Jane Yellowlees Douglas was born on June 25th of 1962 in Detroit, Michigan.
She lives now in Morrison, a little place of Florida, where she has
a small farm with horses.
She got her
first two degrees in English from the University of Michigan. Her BA
degree was in English language and literature, and her MA degree was in
cinema and literaty theory.
She got her PhD from New York University, where she studied several
things: cinema studies, aesthetics and education, before she ended up
getting her doctorate in English and Education.
She had a ton of different jobs thorought her life: she worked as a ghost
writer on a book, as a dark room technician, developing pictures; she
also worked as a publisher's production assistant and as a consultant for
law firms; she then worked as a copywriter in advertising for eleven years
for an advertising agency in London, although we later set up branches in
New York and Philadelphia; she also worked as a sociologist at Brunel University
in London.
Now she is an associate professor at the University of Florida, where
she is one of the directors of a campus-wide writing program
. She supervises 68 teachers who teach first-year college composition,
plus professional
communication courses for students in business and engineering. She also
teachs a course for faculty and physicians in the college of Medicine.
